Pelvic Floor Therapy
Pelvic floor therapy aims to strengthen the muscles around the pelvic floor. These muscles control desire to urinate or defecate. In women, pelvic muscles play a vital role at the time of pregnancy. The muscles are associated with the bladder, uterus and rectum too.
Patients are prescribed pelvic floor therapy to treat incontinence, difficulty in urination or bowel movement, constipation, chronic pelvic pain, overactive bladder and diastasis recti.
We teach patients how to contract and relax pelvic floor muscles in relation to other muscles. Patients learn breathing techniques while exercising. These exercises bring harmony in muscles and are vital during prenatal and postnatal care.
